The Importance of Third-Party Testing

The Importance of Third-Party Testing

At Rosebud, we have three core principles that guide us each and every day: authenticity, transparency, and quality. We believe that it's our duty to provide pure, high-quality, and above all, safe, CBD oil to our customers. This means we go to great lengths to ensure that our product is of the highest standard.

The rapid growth of the CBD industry has saturated the market with cheap, low-quality product sourced overseas or from biomass facilities sourcing from hundreds of farms. Many brands are slapping a “quality” label on an inexpensive, and sometimes unsafe, product. In addition, certain CBD products have lower CBD content than advertised. As consumers, we knew there had to be a better way to shop hemp-based products that ensure short- and long-term safety.

One way we do this at Rosebud, is by sending our oil to a lab where they test for terpene content, pesticides, solvents, heavy metals, microbial contamination and more. This is called third-party testing.

What is third-party testing and why do we need it?

Third-party lab testing is when a private party not affiliated with the manufacturer or distributor performs a scientific analysis of a product. With a lack of federal regulation, there is no standardized process for testing CBD. We choose to adhere to Oregon’s state regulations because they are some of the strictest across the country.

Third-party lab testing provides a neutral, unbiased source of information. It benefits the consumer because it's the most transparent method. With an independent test, the company can’t alter in-house results or publish inaccurate information.

What is Rosebud’s testing process?

In tandem with our farm, we perform three different batch tests. Batch no. 1 tests the hemp extract overall. Our farm supplies a large amount of hemp extract for a control study. This study guarantees that the farm’s extraction process (which adheres to Oregon’s strict regulations) produces the same quality of hemp extract every single time. Testing for mold, pesticides and solvents, it also verifies that the actual hemp extract itself is a clean, safe product.

Batch no. 2 focuses specifically on cannabinoid content to guarantee accurate dosing in all of our product formulas. If both tests are passed, these two batch reports certify that the product is in full compliance with the state’s rigorous standards and is ready for market.

Our final step is to provide our finalized Rosebud CBD formula to a third-party lab of our choice to verify that the product we are receiving matches the test results provided by our farm. We go the extra mile to do our own testing to ensure that our customers are getting the safest, most reliable product possible.

Who do we test with, what were the results and where can we find them?

We have partnered with ProVerde Labs, one of the leading testing facilities in the country. ProVerde has developed user-friendly lab tests in order to increase consumer knowledge and guarantee transparency.

Our third-party, independent lab tests prove the quality of our product and give our customers peace of mind. We always publish our current lab results online making them available to all of our prospective customers.
