Why Meditation and CBD Go Hand-in-Hand

Life can be stressful.

Between juggling countless responsibilities, and balancing what can feel like a million events at once, it can be hard to find time to take care of yourself. But we believe that making time for simple self-care practices – if only for a minute a day – is so important.

Of course [we’re biased], there’s Rosebud CBD to help facilitate some relaxation, but the benefits of CBD can also beautifully complement mindfulness practices like meditation.

Similar to the practice of meditation, hemp-derived CBD also has properties that may help to soothe the mind and the body. The addition of CBD into your daily regimen can produce similar effects as those seen with the addition of meditation- which is why many people often choose to enhance their daily meditation with a dose of CBD oil.

In just a few days, Rosebud is teaming up with the Woodstock Way Hotel in Woodstock, NY to host a CBD Morning Meditation event on August 17th, led by yoga and meditation instructor, Sandra Shafer. She recently spoke to us about why meditation and CBD go together perfectly.

People often think that the goal of meditation is to completely clear your mind, but Shafer feels that’s not the case.

“What I always tell my students is, don’t force it. Try to sit still for as long as you can,” Shafer says. “In the beginning [of my experience with meditation], I was under the impression that we’re not supposed to think at all. I spent 5 or 10 minutes trying not to think, which is in itself a lot of thought.”

Shafer emphasizes the fact that meditation doesn’t mean that you need to empty your mind. In fact, she encourages her students to embrace positivity throughout their meditation practice.

“A lot of the time we’re so inundated with all this chatter and conversations in our head,” Shafer explains, “and mindful meditation is about it being okay to think about something beautiful or something grateful, because that makes you feel so good. And I think those thoughts make you more relaxed. So I encourage them. If there’s a really beautiful feeling or sensation that they’re experiencing, why not think about that? Basically, any kind of force stifles that relaxation.”

CBD has been proven to impact endocannabinoid receptor activity, which means that it naturally helps people to reduce inflammation in the body and relax. Studies have also shown that CBD is helpful in relaxation, which can aid in the goal of calm, soothing feelings while meditating.

“CBD can physically ease some tension. If your body is more relaxed, then the mind follows and quiets down,” Shafer explains.

CBD can also help to expedite the process of relaxation. We’re often bouncing around from activity to activity, not allowing time to let our bodies relax on their own. By taking a little bit of CBD at the start of a meditation practice, Shafer explains, “people with hectic lives can nudge their bodies into a less stressful state.”

The CBD Morning Meditation that Shafer is leading will offer an optimal environment for participants to decompress.

“I think with the CBD we’re going to be on the right track,” Shafer says.
The Rosebud CBD Morning Meditation will take place at the Woodstock Way Hotel at 8:00 am on August 17. You can sign up for the event here.
