Congratulations, Canada! Starting on October 17th, Canadians are legally allowed to recreationally use cannabis without fear of federal penalty.
Canadians can soon purchase fresh or dried cannabis flower, extracts, plants, and seeds from producers with federal licenses, possess and share up to 30 grams at a time with other adults, grow up to 4 plants per household, and experiment with making their own cannabis products at home — as long as there are no dangerous solvents involved.
In celebration of Canada’s end of cannabis prohibition, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite Canadian cannabis accessory brands. Check them out online to get in on the celebration, and get ready to dabble in some legal, adult cannabis on your next trip up north!
Allume
Based in Montreal, Allume aims to be “your new spot for cannabis lifestyle essentials.” Deriving from the French word for to light up, and to be lit, Allume carefully curates the finest, most eloquently crafted, discreet cannabis accessories in their signature monthly Chill Box.
Our favorite is their Magical Bud Lighter Case, which retails for $13.99 USD, and fits a standard sized Bic lighter. It’s the perfect way to accessorize your stash, while keeping friends from pocketing your lighter, since the brushed bronze design so clearly stands out from the rest.
Van der Pop
Aside from offering a wide range of upscale stash jars, joint tools, cones, grinders, and carrying bags, Van der Pop is another female-owned company that started in Seattle before selling to Canadian powerhouse, Tokyo Smoke, last February.
Van der Pop frequently surveys women on a variety of topics related to cannabis and its role in their lifestyles, habits, and health. By number crunching and making this information public, VdP provides us with community, making us feel less alone in our questions and needs, and helps the industry formulate products and educational materials that best serve women as consumers. Check out their recent findings here.
Laundry Day Co.
“Laundry Day is a line of design-forward smokeware founded with a mission to change the visual narrative behind cannabis use.” Laundry Day Co. Founder, Victoria Ashley, curates 1970s inspired glassware that doubles as home decor. Our top pick is the Hudson Pipe - a hand blown, disc-shaped, transparent pipe that comes in a whole bunch of colors from monstera to midnight and teal, and their corresponding Sherling Carrying Pouch in collaboration with Vancouver-based Your Bag of Holding.
Fleur Marché
Fleur Marché is “a trusted cannabis boutique for women, by women”. Aside from displaying a large variety of clean CBD products, former Goop executives and co-founders, Ashley Lewis and Meredith Schroeder, make it their mission to provide recipes, videos, and educational resources to their audience of interested women. Keep your eyes peeled for their website, coming soon, and stay up-to-date on industry happenings by following their Instagram.
