CBD is slowly making its way onto the shelves and nightstands of your friends, coworkers and even your favorite influencers as a staple of self care, but for many of us, our Dads have some reservations.
This Father’s Day, we’ve got everything you need to introduce your Dad, Step Father, Grandfather or any other father figures in your life to CBD.
Start with The Basics
First and foremost, start by assuring him that he won’t get high from taking CBD. He doesn’t believe you because to him hemp, cannabis, and CBD all sound the same? Okay, time to drop some knowledge.
Yes, CBD is a formula which is extracted from cannabis, but there are only trace amounts of THC in CBD products, something that’s almost unavoidable in the extraction process.
Look at it this way—if you’re making coffee with a french press, some coffee grinds might work their way into the pressed pot of coffee. Realistically though, the amount of grinds that have slipped through are so few that it won’t change the flavor or richness of the coffee. That’s just the nature of what happens when extracting coffee from the ground beans. See where we’re going with this? He’s still not convinced? Here are the deets on our extraction process.
Also, the FDA has put measures in place to ensure that all hemp-derived products contain less than 0.3% THC, making it nearly impossible for there to be any psychoactive effects. AKA, you won’t get high. Of course we aren’t medical professionals, but we are educators in the cannabis space, and we promise your Dad won’t get high from taking Rosebud CBD oil. Pinky swear.
The next step is identifying which CBD product would work best for your Dad, because, well, different strokes for different folks.
Topical Products
Start by thinking about what your Dad does—is he sitting at a desk for most of the day? Or maybe he’s extremely active, and runs every day! Go, Dad! We know running can cause some joint pain and discomfort as a result of our feet pounding the pavement, and maybe your Dad has even mentioned this to you once or twice, probably blaming it on his running shoes.
Maybe his muscles and joints are in great shape, but he has a job that requires some handy work, and you notice he always has blisters or dry, chapped skin on his hands. This is a great opportunity to suggest a salve. RB’s full spectrum CBD salve can reduce pain, inflammation, sore muscles, skin irritation and dryness through topical use. Also, applying a salve topically is the perfect way to introduce your Dad to CBD if he’s nervous about taking anything orally.
Tinctures
Maybe your Dad is stressed at work, and has trouble falling asleep, or sleeping deeply. Maybe he’s like so many of us grappling with anxiety right now, and you think he could use a little something to help him move through it.
A few weeks back, we broke down just exactly how CBD can help with anxiety—here are some cliff notes:
CBD helps regulate one of the most important things in our lives—sleep. More than 50% of adults with general anxiety have difficulty falling asleep, and sleeping deeply. Your body’s endocannabinoid system (yep, we all have one) helps regulate sleeping patterns, so increasing the amount of CBD in the system helps it do that job even better. Hello deeper sleep, goodbye stress.
With that in mind, a CBD tincture might just be the best gift for him this year! You can let him know that he can add it to his morning coffee, smoothies, and other drinks. He can also take it straight up, and the two of you can even make a daily ritual that you do it together—we love a bonding moment.
Not sure which strength of CBD oil to get him? Don’t stress, check out our dosing guide.
Treats
Let’s not forget that we’re celebrating a holiday, and what is a holiday without some treats? Diets be damned, we’re celebrating. Also, there’s a lot going on in the world around us, so a little comfort food can’t hurt.
Chocolate is always a great place to start—RB’s infused dark chocolate bar, a collaboration with our friends over at Calivolve, might be the perfect way to introduce your Dad to CBD.
Each square contains only 25mg of CBD, and the whole bar has 100mg—both of which are significantly less potent than our oil tinctures. That way, you’re really easing him into the experience. You can gift him the bar all by itself for the perfect midnight snack, or you can even get a little creative—try melting it for some chocolate covered strawberries, and thank us later.
Looking for some other recipes? Don’t sweat, we got you.
Try It Together
Lastly, try to remember that all of this might be a new experience for your Dad.
Maybe CBD is becoming a household name on your social media feeds, in conversations with friends, or at work—but that doesn’t mean it’s the same for your Dad. Trying CBD might be a whole new experience for him, and it can even be a little intimidating.
Show some solidarity, and try to make it something the two of you can do together. Maybe you both try taking some CBD oil around the same time every night, and you check in with each other to see if you’ve noticed any difference in your sleep, or how rested you feel. However you do it, remember that this is something for you to do together, and isn’t that what Father’s Day is all about?
All of us here at RB are wishing you & yours a Happy Father’s Day!
