10 Ways to Celebrate Mom from Afar

Even though it feels like April didn’t really happen (anyone else? just us?), believe it or not, Mother’s Day is right around the corner.

While some have chosen to quarantine at home with their families, many are sheltering-in-place apart from their families and loved ones, Mom being at the top of that list.

That being the case, we’ve pulled together a few ways for you to celebrate your mom from afar.

Also, we’d like to highlight that while Mother’s Day is a moment to celebrate the women who brought us into this world and helped shape us into the people we are today, it’s also important to recognize that there are many who have lost their mothers, some who may never have known their birth mothers, some who have difficult relationships with their mothers, and also women who so badly wanted to be mothers, but could not.

This is a day to celebrate those women as well.

Mother’s Day is an opportunity to celebrate whoever shows up as a maternal figure in your life—that could mean celebrating a sister, an aunt, a friend, a mentor, a grandmother, and so many other badass women in our lives.

The moral of the story here is that women are rad. This year for Mother’s Day, we’ve strung together 10 ways to celebrate the rad women in all of our lives. Take a peak below.

1-

We’re taking more baths than ever right now, and even before quarantine, Harling Ross said that baths are the coffee of the evening, and more people should take them—and she’s right! These swivel bath trays + RB’s soak + salve set = a nice long steep in the dreamiest bath. Best of all, RB is offering 25% off all of our Mother’s Day gift sets. Add any CBD oil to the set for an extra 15% off. Grab em’ while they’re hot.

2-

You can NEVER go wrong with candles. Our friends at Boy Smells, Otherland, and P.F. Candle Co have you covered.

3-

If you would normally pick up a treat from her favorite bakery or restaurant, try turning to one of the many coveted delivery services like Seamless, Postmates, Uber Eats, or Grub Hub to have a sweet surprise delivered right at her doorstep!

4-

Bouquets are cool and all, but we’ve been finding solace in building our own floral arrangements these last few weeks. Consider sending a DIY kit so that she can get her hands dirty too! Better yet, the two of you can arrange the florals together over Facetime or Zoom. (Check out our friends @bravefloral for ALL of your floral inspo needs).

5-

Take a virtual class together! If dancing is your thing, take an online class together with 305 Fitness. If yoga is more your speed, take a virtual class together with Sky Ting, and thank us later.

6-

Maybe you both share a favorite recipe, or there’s a famous dish of hers that you’ve always wanted to learn how to make. This is the perfect chance to have your Food52 moment. Enjoy an evening of chopping, sautéing, and cooking together over Zoom or Facetime.

7-

Pop some popcorn, and have a movie night together. Platforms like Netflix Party and Discord are making it easy for us to watch movies and TV shows together, but you know, separately.

8-

If there’s anything we love here at RB, it’s a really good playlist. This year, try making her a custom playlist featuring all of the songs you both love, and would otherwise be singing together in the car, full volume, windows rolled down.

9-

Write her a good old fashioned letter, or send a postcard, because what ever happened to the art of snail mail?! Check out Maurele for some custom stationary to kick things off, and then keep it going so you’ll both have a little quran-treat waiting in your mailbox every other week!

10-

It’s always great when flowers arrive on your doorstep, but nothing beats the excitement of checking on some seeds you planted, only to find a new little sprout! This grow kit is the perfect gift, and this way, she can send you progress pics of the flowers as they bloom.

As a women owned and operated business, the entire team at RB is wishing a Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible women who’ve supported us, motivated us, and helped us land where we are today.
