Microdosing with CBD

When the term “microdosing” is brought up, most people think it’s a reference to taking small doses of psychedelics (like, around 1/20th to 1/10th of a “normal” recreational dose).

But as more and more information emerges about the powers of the whole cannabis plant, additional uses are stepping into the spotlight.

Some people are using CBD to reduce stress without the headbuzz of THC, while others are turning to tiny amounts of CBD to relieve the aches and pains of daily life.

If you’re here, you’re probably interested in microdosing CBD, but may have several questions on how to get started. In this article, we’re going to outline the benefits of microdosing with CBD, how to get started with microdosing, and some of the best ways to achieve your desired results with CBD!

But first, let’s get you caught up on some frequently asked questions about CBD…

Frequently Asked CBD Questions

What is CBD?

CBD is one of the naturally-occurring compounds, found in all plants- including both hemp and cannabis plants. When taken appropriately and consistently, CBD can help alleviate anxiety, stress, period cramps, sleep issues, day-to-day aches and pains, and inflammation. Looking for more information on CBD? Is CBD Addictive?

No! According to the WHO, CBD is non-addictive. Since CBD doesn’t produce the high that THC does, it’s potential for abuse is considered limited by scientists.

Does CBD Get You High?

CBD is like Marijuana’s little sister when it comes to THC content. Our Rosebud CBD oil contains 0.3% THC (the legal limit) to ensure the non-psychoactive component of cannabis, while still receiving the full-spectrum benefits. While you’ll certainly feel more relaxed, less anxious and a reduced amount of pain- you will not experience the “high” that you would if you had smoked weed.

Why Microdose CBD Oil?

In the case where you’re microdosing with a hallucinogenic, the intent is to experience a greatly reduced (but still noticeable) version of the effects. When you’re microdosing with CBD oil, the purpose is actually the exact opposite.

When you microdose CBD over the course of a day, it allows you to experience the full benefits of CBD, but for a longer period of time. If you were to take the full daily recommended dose all at once, the effects would wear off more quickly- offering the same benefits, but for a shorter period of time.

Interestingly enough, CBD can exert different effects on your body depending on the dosage. For example, smaller doses of CBD have been shown to make people more alert, while larger doses have been shown to have more of a sedative effect.

CBD interacts with the human body’s endocannabinoid system, and at a high level it helps boost the function of processes like immune response, metabolism, sleep, inflammation, pain, mood, and even reproduction.

Microdosing CBD helps stabilize the endocannabinoid system, and can help you create (and maintain) a state of homeostasis that could positively affect how you feel, mentally and physically.

How to Microdose with CBD

Microdosing CBD allows you to split your daily recommended dosage into smaller amounts that you take throughout the day.

Let’s say that, normally, you take 30 mg of CBD daily. With microdosing, you would split that full dosage into individual doses taken throughout the day; so you’d take 6 mg of CBD in the morning, 6 mg at lunchtime, 6 mg mid afternoon, 6mg with dinner, and 6 mg before you go to sleep. If you usually take a higher dose of CBD, you’d split it accordingly- to microdose throughout the day.

CBD tinctures are the best method for microdosing because they allow you to slowly and easily adjust your dosage to determine what’s right for you. Starting out by taking your CBD sublingually (under your tongue) is a great way to understand how CBD affects you personally, and what the best dose will be for you.

When it comes to determining your ideal CBD dosage, it’s important to remember:

  • Variables like biology, product formulations, and desired effects will influence your ultimate dosage. Try experimenting with different dosages to find what works best for you. The rule of thumb for CBD dosage is “start low and go slow” which suggests starting with a low dose, and increasing it gradually over time.
  • Daily use at regular and consistent times may increase CBD’s effectiveness.

As far as CBD microdosing frequency goes, you will need to experiment and pay close attention to how you feel throughout the day. Keeping a daily journal can be helpful, and there are several apps available to help you track your symptoms and stay on top of your dosage experiments.

Microdosing CBD will yield more subtle effects, so it’s important to be patient with this method. But by choosing a high-quality, clearly labeled CBD oil, you are giving yourself the best chances of experiencing all the benefits that CBD has to offer.
